  1. sir,
    thanks for this book.
i have a question for you,if i want to develop, an improved ETL process with security features. which book is preferable for me to refer. kindly suggest me some books.
one more question is which would be more better way to secure( encryption) the flat file during the building process of ETL

    • Related to Encryption.. Depends how you transfer the flat files. You can encrypt the compressed archives (use archives with passwords) but for secured transfer I suggest to use SFTP. In this way you have the complete transfer encrypted.

On the destination system (source for ETL) you can setup eg. Encrypting File System (EFS) on NTFS (But note, that EFS doesn’t work with block size greater than 4 kB) . Then only accounts with appropriate certificates will be able to read the flat files. (in case you need the flat files to be encrypted). So you grant access to the folder with encrypted files only to the account which transfers the files (writes them to the destination) and then to account under which the ETL process is running so it can read the files and also assign correct certificates of the accounts so those accounts are able to read/write the encrypted data.

For more details take a look on Technet:

  2. Hi Pavel,
I am interested in borrowing this book, but booklending apparently does not have a copy at the moment.

    Regards,
    Sandy

  3. I was wondering how could I borrow this book from you. Kindly let me know.

    Thanks,
    Avishek

    • I can send you a loaning ticket to your email. However I’m just noticed, that the “Loan This Book” is missing in “Manage My Kindle” site even on the book details there is stated that the lending is available. For other books I have the “Loan This Book” so it is a little bit crazy. I will probably ask Amazon support about details.

    • Hi,

Don’t know why, but amazon doesn’t allows lending the book. I have loan possibility on every other book I have bought except this one. I lend it successfully several times, but now it seems I’m not able. 😦 that’s pity.
